Years Warranty

What if I have a 3 Years/36,000 Mile warranty and im under the 36,000 miles 6 years later?

My a/c just went out and the Chrysler only has 18,000 miles on it, and it's a 2002, should my warranty still be in effect?
They say it's the "the box" at the Goodyear shop, they want $500.00. I can't believe it, we hardly drive that that car.

Doesn't matter if you only had 100 miles on it, it expires 3 years from the date it was first sold. Likewise, if it was only 1 year old and had 45,000 miles on it, it would be out of warranty.

I would get a second opinion on the repair.
I would also like to know what they mean by it's "the box" --- sounds suspiciously vague and possibly misleading as if they either don't know, or are trying to release as much money as possible from your wallet.

You don't say exactly what your A/C system is (or isn't) doing, so it's really hard to say for sure. Could be something as simple as a relay that costs $15, a resistor, an actuator that changes the doors inside the case, the control iteself gone bad, or an y other number of things.
