Ultra Linear
what size power/ground wire should a 1000 watt amp have?
I have a 1000 rms watt rca amp to push two ultra linear 12s and i bought an amp kit but the power and ground wires are only 8 ga and look very small compared to my friends wires will they still work?
yea but will they work temporarily?
what do you guys suggest i do?
what if i had the amp turned down would that affect it?
I'd suggest 4ga, it should will also handle another amp if you decide you want to upgrade later. If you don't have 4ga inputs into the amp, buy a small distrubtion block (usually less than 20$) and generally you can get 1 that has 4ga input, and several 8 or smaller gauage outputs.
I don't remember the exact specs on the wattage to distance for wiring types, but 4ga will handle that load with no problems, pending it's not run 250ft across something lol. With that kinda of draw of an amp, you'll probably get better sound out of the heavier wire also. 8ga just seems to choke up big amps like that, it needs some flow.
