Mini hifi speaker swap question?

I've been assigned to supervise the warehouse for three months and i was thinking about buying a little mini hifi to keep me company since i'll be working alone.

I was wondering if i could use the speakers on my older, and slightly larger hifi onto it or not. I know different systems have different power consumption and outputs so i really don't know if it's ok to mix and match or not...
They both use bare wires...

You don't provide details, but if I understand correctly you want to switch the speakers on a mini hifi system. It's likely that 'better" (and larger is not necessarily better) speakers can be used. Your main concern will be the interface. If your Hifi uses external speakers now they are probably connected via wires with plugs of some type (or may be bare wires). Other speakers can generally be used in their place. This may require verifying/changing the plug on the replacement speakers to match but this is easy to do.

It is preferable to match the impedance of the replacement and existing speakers. In general, avoid 4 ohm speakers since they will tax the amp. Efficiency differences in the two speakers will have some impact on loudness at a set volume level .... but this should be fairly minor and easily corrected.

Finally, be careful to avoid shorts between the two wires to each speaker if doing any rewiring .... you can blow the amp.
