Which class is the best one for solo play on diablo 2 online?

Ok first off I would like to start with your playing style. This will affect your ability to play with different chars.

Rough and tough people should use chars like barbarians so they do damage in good measure.

Safer playing people should use sorceress or amazons that use ranged skills and can kill from safe distances.

Here is a list of some of my favorites:

Barbarians- great for new gamers and has good overall strength and abilities. You can do massive damage while maintaininggood health in the midst of any battle.
SKILLS: Battle orders, natural resistance, mace, axe, or sword mastery, frenzy or whirlwind.
STATS: Strength: enough for armor and weapons//Dexterity: enough for a good attack rating//Vitality: all points after strength and endurance u need a lot of health//Energy: just enough

Sorceress- Strong magic, weak in health but can do massive magic that can destroy anybody. Also good with the teleport spell that can take you anywhere without the hassle of killing everybody
SKILLS: Warmth, frozen orb or blizzard, fire ball, teleport, energy shield, allmastery'ss of skills you use.
STATS: Strength: Just enough//Dexterity: Just enough//Vitality: almost all//Energy: enough so you dont run out that much

Paladin- Holy man with some awesome skills, his powerful skills can make quick work of anyone and his auras can make them even stronger.
SKILLS: zeal, blessed hammers, or smite, sanctuary or any other auras that might help.
STATS: Strength: Enough//Dexterity: Enough//Vitality: most//Energy: Enough

EXPANSION ONLY

Assassin- strong traps and martial arts can help with anything
SKILLS: lightning sentry for traps, shadow warrior not master, and anything else you want.
STATS: Everything is balanced just keep it so you wont die and can wear good armor.

Make sure you add skills to the prerequists as well so you get the bonuses for your main skills
