Audio Cd's won't play in my computer!?

I have an Averatec laptop computer and a bunch of store bought CDs that I want to play on it and possibly rip to put the songs on my Zune. Whenever I put the CDs in the disk drive my computer detects it and gives me the option of playing it in one of several media players, but when I open one of the players the CD is unable to play. It just makes a sound like it's spinning and then it stops and makes a lurching sound and repeats this process over and over again until I pull it out.
It's just audio CDs too cause when I put in my Diablo II disk the laptop reads those no problem.
What do I do??

the problem could just be that your disk is damaged...you could try cleaning it or checking for any scratches...if that doesnt work then try opening the disk with a different program
