Can you get an amp that works for both an electric guitar and an acoustic guitar?

If your amp can get a good clean sound, then it will work for acoustic. It won't be optimal, but it will get you by.

The biggest difference between a regular guitar amp and an acoustic guitar amp is in the frequency response. Electric guitar amps usually have a peaked midrange, and roll off the high end. True acoustic guitar amps are designed with a flat response and extended high end. They usually have some kind of tweeter or high frequency horn in them too, just to extend the top end.

Acoustic guitar amps frequently have phase switches and notch filters in them as well, to try to control any feedback you might get between the guitar and amp. It's not a particularly easy thing to get an acoustic guitar loud without the top of the guitar starting to resonate.

Finally, just so you know, acoustic amps usually do not have an exaggerated bass response. If anything, the low end will start rolling off below about 100Hz, but that's necessary if you want to get the guitar loud.

Anyone who thinks you want a lot of bass in an amplified acoustic has never tried to play one live at performance volume.
